Sometimes the true impact of mentoring isn’t measured in numbers—it’s measured in the relationships that last.
Former Mesa West Rotarian and Rotary Builds Bridges - McKinney-Vento mentor Shelly Romine, who has since moved to Washington, recently received this message from a student she mentored:
“The amount of impact, positivity, and support you’ve poured into me is something I will carry with me for the rest of my life… You’ve made such a positive difference in my life.”Dated: August 10, 2026
This is one of the highlights Rotary Builds Bridges - McKinney-Vento mentoring program is all about. Our mentors provide more than guidance during a difficult chapter—they provide encouragement, stability, connection, and someone who believes in a student’s future.
The mentoring may begin for a school year. The impact can last a lifetime.
President-Elect Andy Bradford opened the meeting, Dick Myren gave an Invocation, and Harry Grossman led the Pledge of Allegiance. John Pennypacker led the club to sing the Rotary Four-Way Test. Today’s guests included Jack Rosenberg’s childhood friend, Steve, Kelly (John Benedick’s daughter), Trevor Johnson (a prospective member), Faith Johnson (outbound RYE), and Steph (inbound RYE from Romania).
